Some side-effects of working in offices these days. Shared by people who

have done it..

· During these 5 years in this s/w industry, I have hardly touched a pen. A

few days ago, when I had to write on a paper, to go to the next line, I

tended to press enter button.. Sometimes, when I do a mistake, I feel like

pressing Ctrl+Z

· I once went out to the market wearing my office ID card and did not

realize till my friend told me why I was wearing it !!!!

· A few days back I slept at 11:30 in the night and woke up in the morning

at 7:00 and suddenly thought that I haven't completed 9.15 hours and

laughed at myself when I realized it.

· Just after our training completion and subsequent postings, me and my

friends went out for dinner in one of the best restaurants.. And as I

finished, I started walking towards the basin with plates in my hand.. :)

· Once I was on call with my father and mom was not around. I went on to

ask, "why is she not attending the status call?"

· I don't login to orkut, yahoo, gmail, youtube, etc.. at my personal

internet connection at home... thinking it will be blocked any way. Till I

realize - I am at home.

· While writing personal mails also.........I just write it as if I am

writing to someone on-site or some senior person........ Just forget that

we are only mailing our friends..............

· And keeping hands in front of tap for waiting water to drop by itself is

very frequent with me...............I just forget that we have to turn the

tap on and off...........

· Once after talking to one of my friend, I ended the conversation

saying ..." Ok bye...in case of any issues will call u back" (Hilarious!)

· Sometimes when I delete a message from my mobile by mistake, I hope for a

second, maybe its in the recycle bin

· I was about to throw my hand-kerchief into the bin after drying my hand.

· Once I was flashing my ID card instead of unlocking the door with the

keys.

· I gave my office mail id and pwd to access Gmail and wondered when they

become invalid !!!!

· I was earlier working at the back office of an international Bank. We

used to 'dispatch' lot of Credit / Debit cards and statements for the

customers and track its delivery later. Once my grandma was admitted to a

hospital, my team mate once casually asked me " howz ur grandma doing now ?

still in the hospital ? " ... and I replied to her, "She is better now, she

will be dispatched from the hospital tomorrow !" ….This was followed by a

loud laugh in the entire bay !

· Once I went to a pharmacy and asked for a tab....pharmacist asked whether

I want 250mg r 500mg.....suddenly I replied as 256mb...lol....thank god he

didn't noticed that....

· Me getting a thought of doing an Alt+Tab while switching from a news

channel to the DVD while watching TV.

· And I - after a forty a hour marathon in Bhubaneshwar with Powerbuilder,

decided to take a break and went to a movie. In the middle of the movie,

when I wanted to check the time, I kept repeatedly glancing at the bottom

right corner of the silver screen!

· Few of my friends and myself decided to go out for dinner. The place

wasn't fixed yet. I said we shall decide it "run time"

· When I went to a movie theatre from office directly.. I showed the guy at

the entrance my ID card and walked in... he had to call me back asking for

the ticket...

· Once I went to have juice at the local juice vendor and innocuously asked

him whether he had a plain 'version' of lemonade.

· The other day I was hearing one guy talking of a "Stand-alone" house..

when he was actually intending to indicate an independent house... Poor

broker should have thought of a " A lone house standing in the middle of

nowhere... "

· I always press 0 before dialing any mobile number from land line which is

at home...Later when I hear its wrong number then I realize I am at

home.. :-)

This photo was taken by a soldier in Afghanistan of a hello rescue mission.
The pilot is a PA National Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life.

Now how many people on the planet you reckon could set the ass end of a
chopper down on the roof top of a shack, on a steep mountain cliff, and hold
it there while soldiers load wounded men in the rear. If this does not impress
you... nothing ever will.

Dr Watson is an error-reporting program that comes packaged within the Windows operating system. As well as being able to report any program errors you suffer directly to Windows it can also help to debug the files, fix the programs, and cure any errors or problems you may be suffering.

* Two versions of Dr Watson program; the original Dr Watson was shipped with earlier Windows NT versions, while Dr Watson 32 is the Windows XP included application. It will monitor both user mode and kernel mode faults.

* Dr Watson was resolving issues on our behalf, the blue screen of death, as it has become none too affectionately known, would be issued. The blue screen, which still appears when there is an exceptionally serious malfunction on your computer, would spell the end of anything you were doing. All programs would be closed and it was necessary to restart your computer.

* When Dr. Watson encounters an error,the error is logged under the file “drwtsn32.log” or “user.dmp” when running Microsoft Windows NT or Windows 2000/XP. When running Microsoft Windows 95, 98 or ME the file is logged with a .WLD file extension and stored under the \Windows\Drwatson folder. (Search more information in Microsoft)

Enabling Dr.Watson Error

*At a command prompt, type the following line,drwtsn32 -i and then press ENTER

* Double-click the .reg file you created in steps three and four above.

Disabling Dr.Watson Error

*Click Start, click Run, type regedit.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.

*Locate and click the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\ AeDebug
NOTE: Steps three and four are optional, but they necessary if you want to restore the default use of Dr. Watson.

* Click the AeDebug key, and then click Export Registry File on the Registry menu.

* Enter a name and location for the saved registry file, and then click Save.

* Delete the AeDebug key.

Bread=45% water

In some parts of the world, bread is made as it has been for thousands of years, and in countries like France, craft bakery is a fiercely protected tradition. Nonetheless, there is no doubt that bread-making in the developed countries has become a much more industrial process. In the UK, now, 81% of all the country’s bread is made by 11 companies in 57 factories, and just two companies, British Bakeries and Allied Bakers, make not far short of 70% among them. All but a tiny fraction of the rest is made by supermarket in-store bakeries using prebaked or pre-mixed ingredients.

The result is that industrial processes like the Chorleywood bread process (CBP) have become widely adapted. Instead of allowing the dough to ferment and rise for a few hours, the CBP gets air and water in almost instantly using high-speed mixers. So the whole process is much, much faster and much more automated which keeps the price of everyday bread very low. But it calls for extra yeast and chemical oxidants to get the air in, and harder fat to maintain the structure. Until recently, the hard fat used in industrially-made bread was usually the tough, hydrogenated trans-fats. Because of all the bad publicity regarding the health risks of trans-fats, some industrial bread-makers are replacing them with palm oils, but palm oils may turn out to be just as bad. Another difference among industrial and traditional bread is the water content, which has always varied between bread types.

Many Italian types of bread, for instance, have a very high water and olive oil content to give them their desirable soft, almost soggy texture. But over the last few decades the water content in standard industrially-made bread has gone up steadily. Extra water not only means a significant saving in flour costs, but means the soft dough can be achieved with tough, lower-grade flour. Otherwise you have to use higher-grade flour for the soft bread that most consumers like. Getting this extra water in was easy with chlorinated ‘bleached’ flours, but these were banned in 1998 in the UK for health reasons. Now many bread-makers achieve the same with GMO (genetically modified) enzymes.

Low-grade flour, higher water content, trans-fats (plus GMO enzymes or bleached flour) all mean that the bread you buy in supermarkets may be just a bit less nutritious than you might imagine. In fact, in large quantities it could even be a health risk because of its high salt content. In the past, normal fermentation was quite enough to give bread a good flavor. The drastic cut in fermentation times in industrial processes mean extra salt has to be added to stop the bread tasting like cardboard. According to some estimates, bread is now the biggest source of salt in the average diet and that high salt intake brings attendant health risk

Google’s book search program will give publishers a new option to monetize their content: sell online access. Currently a very small part of the books indexed by Google can be read entirely and most are public domain books.

“With online access, users who discover a book through Google Book Search will be able to pay for immediate access to its full contents. (…) The book will be available to users only through their browser, and only when they’ve signed in with their personal account. Users cannot save a copy on their computer or copy pages from the book.”

So you’ll not actually buy a book (even in a digital format), you’ll buy the right to read it online. As the price should be much smaller than for a PDF, this might be an option if you just need some information from a book.

Google doesn’t think this system could be a substitute for book stores. “You may just want to rent a travel guide for the holiday or buy a chapter of a book. Ultimately, it will be the readers who decide how books are read,” says Jens Redmer, from Google Europe.

In 1932-1933 most major grain producing agricultural areas of the union and many regions are affected in the soviet famine. The communist governments of the soviet planned to export the grains form republic’s agricultural output to the west in order to sustain the rapid economic transformation. The policy is designed accordingly.

The term ‘Golodomor’ means the “Mass Hunger” or “Great Hunger” that cause many million victims throughout the soviet union in 1932-1933.There are around 6-8 millions peasants death during the famine 1932-1933.Some of the regions affected are given in the site.

Lion At Its Best..

Technicians at car repair shops were having a normal day at work, when suddenly a nervous looking LION came out of no where…seemingly hungry because of how skinny his body looks….

Workers freaked out, jumping over each other, some locking themselves up in cars, some in the offices, and some just ran away…but one brave guy took the picture of this Lion without making a sound….and there was the SHOCK when the Lion turned around…nobody could believe it
